MEGA 100 FLEX - 100 Watt Flexible Solar Panel

A 100 watt panel that weighs 4.8 lb and is a tenth of an inch thick. The MEGA 100 FLEX bends to follow a curved van roof, a boat cabin top or an Airstream shell, and it can be bonded down with adhesive instead of brackets - no roof penetrations, no wind gap, no rack. That flexibility is the whole point, and it comes with a real trade-off: flexible panels run hotter and carry a much shorter warranty than glass ones.

Why this panel

• 100 watts at 12 volts from 10-busbar monocrystalline cells rated up to 22.8% efficiency - the same cell technology as a rigid panel, laminated instead of glazed.
• 4.8 lb and 0.1 in thick. A rigid 100 watt panel is roughly three times the weight and ten times the thickness.
• Bends up to 360 degrees, so compound curves and cab-over profiles are fair game.
• Temperature coefficient of -0.35%/C, which keeps output more stable when the laminate heats up against a dark roof.
• Cells are cut with a non-destructive process to limit micro-cracking, and the laminate is PID-resistant.
• Rated for 2400 Pa wind and 5400 Pa snow loading.
• Be clear-eyed about the trade: bonded flexible panels have no air gap underneath, so they run hotter and lose a few percent of output on a hot day compared with the same wattage on standoffs.

Installation

• Pre-drilled grommet holes if you want to fasten it, or adhesive backing if you want a flush bond.
• Pre-attached 12 AWG leads with MC4 connectors, three feet on each pole.
• IP68 junction box and IP67 connectors, so a wash-down or a wave over the bow is not a problem.
• If you bond it to a dark surface, leave as much airflow as the geometry allows and avoid trapping the panel against insulation.

Warranty

• 1 year against material and workmanship defects.
• Note that this is far shorter than the 25-year output warranty on Rich Solar's rigid panels. Flexible laminates are consumables by comparison - choose one for the shape and weight, not for the service life.
