NOVA PURE 3K - 3000 Watt (3kW) 12 Volt Industrial Pure Sine Wave Inverter

The NOVA PURE 3K is the largest 12 volt inverter Rich Solar builds without a charger attached - 3000 W continuous, 6000 W surge, in a 12.1 lb case. It is the right choice when you need to run a full-size microwave or a proper power tool off a 12 V bank, and the wrong choice if your battery and cabling were sized for a 1000 W unit. There is no solar controller, no charger and no transfer switch in this box.

Why this inverter

• 3000 W continuous with a 6000 W peak surge, which covers the inrush of most single-motor appliances.

• Be realistic about the current. At greater than 88% efficiency, 3000 W out of a 12 V battery is roughly 270 amps in. That demands 4/0 cable on anything but the shortest run, a 300 A class-T fuse, and a lithium bank whose BMS is actually rated for a continuous 270 A discharge. Many 100 Ah batteries are not. On a 24 V system the same 3000 W halves that current, which is why the NOVA PURE MAX 3K exists at the same price.

Installation

• 12 VDC only, and genuinely at the limit of what 12 V is sensible for. If you are still designing the system, 24 V will cost less in copper.
• 18.7 x 9.6 x 4.0 in and 12.1 lb. Mount it solidly and as close to the battery as the layout allows - every inch of cable at 270 A costs voltage.
• Rated 14°F to 122°F, with high-speed fans that need clear air at both ends.
• Never feed this through a 12 V accessory socket. Direct battery connection with a correctly rated fuse only.
