NOVA MAX 3K - 3000 Watt (3kW) 24 Volt Off-Grid Hybrid Solar Inverter

The NOVA MAX 3K puts a 3000 W pure sine inverter, an MPPT solar controller and a shore-power battery charger in one 26.5 lb box built around a 24 volt battery. That combination is aimed squarely at vehicles - vans, trailers, overland trucks and boats - where a single wall-mounted unit replaces three separate components and the wiring between them.

Why this inverter

• 3 kVA / 3000 W continuous at 120 VAC, regulated to ±5%, with 2x rated power for five seconds to cover compressor and pump inrush.
• A single MPPT tracker that accepts up to 250 VDC open circuit and tracks between 90 and 230 VDC, at up to 18 A input. That is a high-voltage window for a 24 V unit, so two or three 60-cell panels in series work well while a single 12 V panel will not reach the tracking threshold.
• The AC/solar charge priority, the battery charge current and the input voltage window are all set from the LCD, so the same unit can be tuned for a rig that mostly runs on solar or one that spends weekends on shore power.
• Cold start brings the system up from the battery alone, and the inverter auto-restarts when AC power returns.
• Overload, over-temperature and short-circuit protection are built in.
• Two things Rich Solar does not publish for this model: a maximum PV array wattage, and an AC charger current or transfer time. If your design depends on any of those, get them from the NOVA 3K24 specification sheet before ordering. Rich Solar also markets this as the "#1 ranked" 24 V hybrid inverter without naming who ranked it or against what - treat that as advertising rather than a specification.

Installation

• 24 VDC nominal battery input. This will not run on a 12 V bank; if your rig is 12 V, the NOVA 3K12 with a built-in transfer switch is the equivalent at that voltage.
• 26.5 lb and 5.6 x 12.1 x 18.8 in. Light enough for a single-person wall mount onto plywood or a bulkhead, but plan for airflow at the top and bottom.
• Rated 14°F to 104°F operating. Fine for a heated van or an insulated trailer; a bare uninsulated cargo bay in a hard winter will fall below the lower limit.
• Peak efficiency is 91%. On a small 24 V bank the standby draw matters, so switch the inverter off when the rig is parked and unused rather than leaving it idling.
• Works from mains or generator input for battery charging when solar alone is not enough.

• Rich Solar publishes no safety certification for this model on the product page, unlike the 48 V NOVA 6548 which cites UL 1741 by TUV. If the installation needs a listed inverter for inspection or insurance, confirm certification before you buy.
