The NOVA 6548 is the all-in-one box at the centre of a 48-volt off-grid system: it inverts to 120 VAC, runs two independent MPPT solar inputs totalling 8000 W, and charges from shore power or a generator at up to 120 A. If you are sizing a cabin, ADU or large RV around a 48 V battery bank and want one enclosure instead of a separate inverter, controller and charger, this is the size that covers most whole-building loads.

Why this inverter

  • 6500 VA / 6500 W continuous at 120 VAC, pure sine wave, with 2x rated power available for five seconds to cover motor and compressor startup.
  • Two MPPT trackers accepting 4000 W each. The tracking window is 90-230 VDC with a 250 VDC open-circuit ceiling, so strings need to be planned deliberately - a long string that overshoots 250 V in cold weather will not be accepted.
  • Solar and AC charging both peak at 120 A, but the two share a 120 A total charge ceiling rather than adding together.
  • Detachable LCD module with RS485, CAN and RS232 ports for battery BMS communication, plus built-in Wi-Fi. Phone monitoring requires the manufacturer's app.
  • Up to six units can be paralleled, and two can be configured for 120/240 V split phase. A single unit is 120 V only - if you need 240 V from one box, look at the NOVA 8K instead.
  • Charge priority, input voltage window, output timers and charge current are all set from the panel, so the same unit can be tuned for a generator-backed cabin or a grid-connected backup role.
  • Peak efficiency is quoted at 91%, which is honest but unremarkable for this class. Expect meaningful idle and conversion losses on a system that runs light loads around the clock.

Installation

  • 48 VDC nominal battery input. Float is 54 VDC with overcharge cutoff at 66 VDC, which suits both LiFePO4 and flooded banks once the panel settings are matched to the chemistry.
  • 40.6 lb and 5.8 x 17.0 x 21.8 in. Wall mounting onto a stud or plywood backer is the norm; leave clearance above and below for the cooling fans.
  • Transfer time is 10 ms in computer mode and 20 ms in appliance mode. Desktop PCs and network gear generally ride through the former; anything with a hard uptime requirement still wants a small UPS downstream.
  • Rated for -14°F to 104°F operating. The low end is genuinely cold-capable, but the 104°F ceiling means a sealed, sun-exposed utility closet will derate it in summer.
  • Includes an anti-dust kit and a cold start function for bringing the system up on battery alone.

Warranty

  • Covered by the Rich Solar limited warranty. Terms are published on the manufacturer's warranty page and vary by product line.
  • Certified to UL 1741 by TUV, which is what most inspectors and insurers will ask to see on a permanent installation.
  • Carries a California Proposition 65 warning for cancer and reproductive harm.
