MEGA 550 - 550 Watt Bifacial Solar Panel

The MEGA 550 is a utility-scale bifacial module sold by the pallet, not the piece. Eight, ten or twelve panels ship on a single skid, which is how the freight math works out for a house roof, a barn, a pump station or a small commercial array. Glass on both faces means the module also harvests light reflected off whatever is underneath it.

Why this panel

• 144 half-cut N-Type TOPCon cells with 16 busbars, 23% module efficiency, 550W nameplate.
• Rear-side gain is real but conditional. Rich Solar quotes up to 25% additional output, and that figure assumes a highly reflective surface such as fresh snow, white gravel or a painted roof. Over dark soil or asphalt, expect closer to 5 to 10%, and mount the array high enough off the surface for reflected light to reach the back.
• Glass on front and back at 2.0 mm each, rather than a polymer backsheet, which resists abrasion and moisture ingress over a 25-year life.
• 42.0V at maximum power, 13.1A, 49.8V open circuit. Plan string length against your inverter's DC window and fuse at 30A maximum.
• Output tolerance of 0 to +5W, PID-resistant cells and 100% electroluminescence inspection.
• 5400 Pa snow and 2400 Pa wind rating, certified to UL 61730, IEC 61215 and CSA C22.2.
• Each panel is 89.7 x 44.7 in and 73.2 lb, so this is a two-person lift and needs proper racking.

Mounting and wiring

• Eight pre-drilled holes in the anodized aluminum frame for standard rail clamps, tilt legs, pole or ground mounts.
• Four-foot 12 AWG leads with MC4 connectors, IP68 junction box, IP67 connectors.
• Works with grid-tie string inverters and off-grid MPPT controllers.
• Bifacial output depends on mounting height and ground surface, so ground mounts and elevated racking see more benefit than a flush roof mount.

Shipping

• Ships palletized by freight. A liftgate or forklift and a level place to unload are required.
• Pallet quantities are fixed at 8, 10 or 12 panels; partial pallets are not available at this price.
