MEGA 220 - 220 Watt Solar Panel

The MEGA 220 is the panel to reach for when you want serious charging current from a single 12 volt module. It puts out 12 amps at peak, roughly the same as two 100 watt panels, from one frame and one pair of leads. That means fewer roof penetrations, fewer connectors and less combiner wiring for the same watt-hours into the bank.

Why this panel

• 220 watts at a nominal 12 volts, 12.0 A at maximum power - one panel does the work of two smaller ones.
• 64 monocrystalline cells with 16 busbars, rated up to 20.7% efficiency. That figure is lower than the compact MEGA 100 SLIM because this is a larger-format cell layout; total output per panel is what you are buying here, not output per square foot.
• Power tolerance of 0 to +5 watts, so the panel meets or exceeds its rating.
• 3.2 mm anti-reflective tempered glass for light transmission and impact resistance.
• Rated for operation from -40 to 185 F, with a 1500 VDC maximum system voltage that leaves plenty of headroom for long strings.
• PID-resistant, 100% electroluminescence-inspected, and qualification tested for UV, thermal cycling and humidity freeze.
• Rated to 2400 Pa wind and 5400 Pa snow, certified to UL 61730, IEC 61215 and CSA C22.2.

Mounting and wiring

• 55.1 by 30.0 inches and 23.7 lb of panel - measure your roof before ordering, this is a full-size module rather than an RV-scale one.
• Anodized aluminum frame with 14 pre-drilled holes for Z-brackets, tilt legs, pole mounts or ground racking.
• Pre-attached 12 AWG leads with MC4 connectors, four feet on each pole.
• Plan for the current. At 12.5 A short circuit, parallel runs add up quickly - size the controller, the fusing and the wire gauge for the full array, not for one panel.
• Works with both off-grid and grid-tie inverters.
