A compact roof cable entry with IP68 MC4 connectors already fitted to 1-foot 10AWG tin-plated copper leads. Mount it, seal the hole, plug the panel cable in. For the large majority of RV, van and cabin installations this is the one to buy — 30 amps continuous covers roughly 400 watts on a 12V system and around 800 on 24V.

Why this plate

  • 30 amps continuous at 600 volts, on UL1015-certified 10AWG tin-plated copper. The tin plating resists the corrosion that slowly raises resistance at a cut copper end, which matters near salt air.
  • IP68 MC4 connectors, pre-installed and tool-free. A published, tested ingress rating, and factory-terminated so the seal does not depend on a crimp made on a roof in the wind.
  • UL Listed components with UL94V0 flame-retardant connector shells and VW-1 fire-rated PVC insulation good to 221°F.
  • Flame-retardant polypropylene housing rated -40°F to 185°F, with a reinforced structure intended for vehicle vibration.
  • Very light at 0.29 lb and 5.9 × 4.3 × 1.6 in, so it needs no roof reinforcement.
  • Leads are a stated 1 foot, red and black with clear polarity marking.

10AWG or 8AWG?

  • This plate carries 30A continuous (42A peak). The 8AWG version (RS-G05) carries 37.7A continuous (50A peak) and costs a few dollars more.
  • Nothing else differs. Same housing, same 5.9 × 4.3 × 1.6 in dimensions, same IP68 MC4 connectors, same certifications, same temperature range. The 8AWG plate is 0.05 lb heavier.
  • This is the right choice unless you genuinely exceed 30 amps. Step up to the 8AWG plate only for a large 12V array, a long cable run where voltage drop matters, or if you want headroom to add panels. Otherwise the extra money buys capacity you will not use.

What it will not do, plainly

  • Mounting hardware and sealant are not supplied. Rich Solar lists glue, sealant or self-tapping screws as the options and includes none of them.
  • The IP68 rating covers the connectors, not the hole in your roof. Sealing the penetration is a separate job and it is where these installations actually leak.
  • The manufacturer contradicts itself on the current rating. This page's own feature list and specification table both say 30A continuous, but the page's meta description says 23.7A. We have listed the 30A figure because it appears twice on the page and in the specification table, but if you are designing close to the limit, treat 30A as the number to confirm with us rather than to rely on.
  • 600V is the wire rating, not a system rating.
  • Black only — there is no white version of this plate.
  • One foot of lead is not much. It is designed to meet your panel cable right at the entry point, not to reach across a roof. Plan an extension cable if the panel is not adjacent.

How this compares to our Cable Entry Housing

  • The Cable Entry Housing is a bare box with glands for 6–12 mm cable and no published IP rating. You feed your own cable through it.
  • This plate arrives with certified wire and IP68 connectors already terminated. It costs more and it is the better-specified product. If you have not already bought the housing, buy this.

Installation

  • Dry-fit and mark before cutting anything.
  • Drill the cable hole, deburr it, then seal the hole edge as well as bedding the plate down.
  • Leave a drip loop in the cable below the entry point so water runs off rather than tracking into the hole.
  • If you mount with screws, seal under the heads. A screw through a sealed plate is still a hole.

Warranty and safety

  • Covered by Rich Solar's published limited warranty; terms are on the manufacturer's warranty page.
  • Carries a California Proposition 65 warning for cancer risk and reproductive harm.
