A dedicated LiFePO4 charger for people who need a flat battery back up quickly from a wall outlet rather than waiting on solar. It puts out 20 amps at 14.4V and, importantly, it can wake a battery whose BMS has latched off after a deep discharge — something most generic 12V chargers cannot do because they refuse to start into a zero-volt pack.

Why this charger

  • 20A output at 14.4V plus or minus 0.2V, which is a correct LiFePO4 absorption target rather than a lead-acid voltage applied to a lithium pack.
  • Three-stage cycle: pre-charge, constant current, then constant voltage.
  • Recovers BMS-protected batteries that have shut themselves down, which is the usual reason a lithium pack looks dead.
  • Universal 100-240VAC input at 47-63Hz, so it works on shore power, a generator or overseas mains.
  • M10 terminals plus a 50A Anderson connector, so you can hard-wire it or plug it in.
  • LED indicators for standby, charging, full and fault — you can tell the state at a glance without an app.
  • Aluminium case with an active cooling fan. Rich Solar describes the fan as quiet; it is still a fan, so this is not a silent charger.
  • Protected against over-temperature, reverse polarity, short circuit and over-voltage.

How it compares to the 10A version

  • The 10A model in this range costs less and charges at half the rate. On a 100Ah battery that is roughly the difference between a five-hour and a ten-hour recharge.
  • Pick the 20A if you turn the battery around daily or the bank is 200Ah or larger. The 10A is enough for occasional top-ups and winter maintenance.

Installation and use

  • Operating range is -4 F to 104 F. Do not charge a LiFePO4 battery below freezing unless the battery has an internal heater — this charger does not check pack temperature for you.
  • Give the case airflow; the aluminium body is part of the heatsink.
  • At 9.06 x 3.58 x 2.07 inches and 3.75 lb it is portable enough to move between vehicles rather than mounting permanently.
  • Maximum AC draw is 4A, so it is undemanding on a campground pedestal.

Warranty

  • Covered by Rich Solar's standard limited warranty. No specific term is published on the product page; contact us to confirm the current coverage period.
